Military Personnel and Family
Dr. Ullman has worked extensively with military personnel, veterans, and their families across branches, eras of service, and deployment histories. Her work focuses on PTSD, combat trauma, military sexual trauma (MST), arousal dysregulation, addiction, suicidality, anger and rage reactions, dissociation, family disruption, and the transition from operational survival to civilian functioning.
Military trauma affects not only the service member, but the family system surrounding them; spouses, partners, parents, and children often live with the consequences of hypervigilance, emotional numbing, sleep disruption, moral injury, avoidance, and threat-based behavior long after deployment has ended. Dr. Ullman’s approach is behavioral, diagnostic, and neuropsychology-informed, with emphasis on understanding what the nervous system has
learned under threat and what is required for stabilization, regulation, and
functional recovery.
